Dziowgo's Toybox

The garage door opener is a brand new, out of the box Stanley. It is an earlier model without the safety eyes. But it does have an automatic reverse in case something or somebody is under it when closing. But for $55 who can complain. Of course the light fixture was right smack in the way and had to be moved. When we put the doors in, an opener was not in the plans.




























The lights are modeled after the restaurant in Rapid City. I could not find a Patent Number on them up there so took the liberty of making some for my personal use. They are rather clever I think.










The bookshelf area is made from guess what - you got it - old corral shed boards! Someday the shelves might get put up too. Don't know what the holdup is there.

Here is the top photo of the railing around the fireman's pole as well as the bottom of the pole. Of course Grandpa had to give me some pointers as to how it is done. The Fire Dept. in Sioux Falls was 2-story and he used to go down the pole there. Said he heard that one guy went down head first. As for me, as long as my feet hit the ground BEFORE my head, it is all good.

The railing by the stair opening used to be an 8" straight railing. Cam measured it carefully (the third line after the half mark), bitched about having to use a hand saw to cut the iron, and then welded it to fit the opening to meet the bookshelf. The finisher will sandblast it, paint it a nice color and bolt it down later when it warms up.
