Here is a photo of us with the Christmas gift that Elliot got us. It is cut out of stainless steel and is super sharp!
Installing the sign on the North side of the barn. Not too shabby!
Finished product.
Here is the puzzle that Josh and Cory helped me put together. Made a nice frame out of some scrap barn boards that I had laying around. I think I'll have enough to make a couple more :)

Yes that is the final spot that needed siding. It has been a long battle but I came out victorious! Had to find another barn to get some more siding. The boys are glad that I didn't go with the tin idea. Would have looked like another resident of Inman. Wouldn't want that!
A few steady swings with my trusty hammer and it'll be finished!
Steady as she goes. We also finished putting up the trim pieces on the barn. Those photos will be up soon. Stay tuned! Not sure if I am going to paint it or leave it rustic. The boys like the rustic look because they won't have to help paint it!

I know, I know....this has nothing to do with the Toybox but I wanted to share them.

Here is Guido and the Girls after limiting out on prairie chickens. Not to shabby for an afterschool hunt.
Me being Captain Yellow Shirt on the boat that Cindy and Josh rented for Labor Day. We almost bought one, remember?

Here are some photos of the current status of the barn. It is beginning to fill up to capacity. I have to be careful walking around the upstairs as well as the downstairs as it is being used as storage too.

Here are the MOBOs. What a fine pair of steeds!
Not responsible for the towing costs that may incur, Candice.
Mom even has her corner upstairs. That is a custom made shelving unit constructed out of barn boards.
Notice the blue safety rail. I wonder if I remembered to screw that down....hmmmm
Handrail going up. Now we just have to put those stoves in somewhere to have a comfortable winter season.
Fire engine display case. You guessed, custom made too!
Fireman's corner with the pole in the background. Don't forget to ring the bell before descending.
The international hooked up to the boat. Might have to dry dock her for the winter.

Not too shabby of a collection, eh?
Random assortment of collectors with some 'riders' mixed in
Another shot of the cars. I'll keep you posted on what the next addition to the project is. Cameron and I went out to pick up some more siding boards to finish that off. Pictures to come.

Here is the Northeast corner. Notice the corner trim. That is what all the corners will look like. The iron wheels are one of Cheryl's finds.
Here is the view from the North. Still trying to decide if I need to paint it so it looks fresh or just put a sealer on it and keep it original. Feel free to comment but know that I will make the final decision as always!
The Westside. We put up some extra barn doors to help with our siding sortage. Think it looks pretty good.
Custom made stairs leading from the workshop to the museum. Note the stairwell with the flooring boards. A handrail was also install to meet regulations.

Is that Cory working on a puzzle? It can't be! Oh wait, that is a beer in his hand? Now it makes sense!
I had to come in at the right time to finish the puzzle that these boys couldn't. Good thing I was there to help out!
Here are our shirts that the kids made. We spent the night making sure that everyone had the necessary beverages to enjoy the night.
We couldn't have a standard ribbon cutting so the kids held a board and we cut it with the circular saw. The barn is open!

Proud owners of a pretty impressive structure. This will know become Chuck's "doghouse." Not sure if it fits the bill since he willingly goes out there.
Here is Candi getting geared up to come down the pole. Boy, I hope that she rings the bell before sliding down.
Candi made it down safely and with no injuries.
Candice was excited of climbing the large ladder to clean the windows for the big party. She even carried the ladder to the site! Not bad for a button pusher.
Here is Josh after he mustered up the courage to try his luck sliding down the pole. I think the gloves and the hat helped :)

Here is Dad showing us how it is done. 87 years old/young and he still has it! The Sioux Falls days aren't too far forgotten.
Three generations of crapsmen! Two working and one supervising. Looks like Cory will make an excellent foreman someday! Just not on my jobsite.
Custom made corner shelf made of recycled barn boards. Nice shelf showcasing Cheryl's top collection. Notice the blue railing.
Is this a Steerable MOBO, or Pepper??? Both are pretty sharp looking 'toys.'

Here's Cory bringing up a temporary window for the southside of the barn.
Cam assisting Cory with the window. It was handy having the boys around to muscle the window into place. Not too much muscle required with these fellas :)
Looks good! These windows will be a temporary fix to our ventilation problems. We just need to get the other windows primed and painted. When they are finished, they will be put into their final resting place.

Here I am modeling the guest room for when the kids visit. Cory and Amie will have to fight Josh and Cindy for this bunk.
Or they will double as a storage unit :)
Me supervising or minding the cord. You can't be too careful when Cory is working with power tools!
Cory safely working from a heavy duty ladder. He isn't left-handed but it actually helped him cut straight! He might want to think about switching hands when it comes to detail work.

I think I have realized what my 'retirement' plan will be. I think I'll pursue a career as a safety coordinator. Cory tells me that there are jobs like that in Antarctica. I think I could handle that. Look at all the job training I have been getting.
It's always nice to have some help when working on the barn. Cameron is getting tired of climbing up and down the ladder though. Now he knows hows how I feel! One of these days I'll retire and lead a life of leisure.
